Digital Certificates

Using Certificates on Your BlackBerry or Other Mobile Device

BlackBerry devices, along with most other personal digital assistants and cell phones, do not easily support the installation of digital certificate files. This means that they are not available for you to use for signing and encryption when you are sending email from your PDA or phone.

For subscribers to the Austin BlackBerry Service, if you are sent an encrypted message, your BlackBerry will receive a message telling you that you have received an encrypted message. You will have to read the message using your Exchange client or Outlook Web Access.

Devices that use Windows Mobile 6 may support the use of certificates; however, ITS has been unable to confirm at this time.
