I Don't Remember My Firefox Software Security Device Password
Operating System: Windows XP and Vista, Mac OS X
Application: Firefox
Problem: Firefox asks for a Software Security Device (master password) and you don't remember.
Solution: Reset your master password. You will lose any saved passwords or other cached credentials, including existing security certificates.
Warning: This procedure deletes any existing security credentials and passwords as a security measure. If you have existing security certificates, you will have to re-import them after you reset the master password. Do not perform this procedure lightly.
The procedure for deleting a master password in Firefox is described in the Mozillazine Master Password topic
.
If you delete the master passwod, you can then create a new Software Security Device as part of the certificate download process. If you already have a personal certificate, you should Import Certificates to the Firefox Certificate Manager.
