About this Page

You may be viewing this page because you cannot connect using your Cisco VPN client. If you are having trouble connecting, check the items below, or refer to the Troubleshooting section.

  • UP means that the VPN server is functioning normally.

  • DOWN indicates that the VPN server is temporarily unavailable. Wait a while and try to connect again.

  • If the VPN server is UP but your connection is DOWN, check the following:

    • Is your normal Internet connection working? If it's down, you will not be able to connect to the VPN. Note: If you are using Linux, you can check the status of your connection from the command line by entering:

      vpnclient stat

    • Are you connecting with the UT Austin VPN connection profile? This profile contains the correct information needed to connect to the UT Austin VPN. If you've accidentally altered the settings, you can reinstall the VPN client to restore the original settings.

    • Does the VPN client display a login prompt when you try to connect? If so, make sure you're entering your UT EID user name and password, and that the Caps Lock key is not active.
