As part of the Web Central Services Retirement project, the ITS website will be retired. Information about IT services will be replaced by two new sites, IT@UT and UT ServiceNow, and ITS departmental information will be migrated to a new location. All changes will be completed by 7/28/2016.

Getting Help Online in Unix

For the following procedures, make sure you have logged in to an SSH Client and are at the Unix terminal. Instructions on how to log in to an SSH Client can be found at the Help page.

To submit a command line in Unix, press Enter.

Online Unix documentation consists of a series of manual pages.

To access the manual page for a certain command, enter man at the terminal followed by the command you have questions about, and press Enter.

Example:

  • man passwd will return the manual pages on resetting passwords.
