Using a Ticket to Share Files and Folders With Non-WebSpace Users

You can share files on a limited basis with individuals who are not current UT Austin students, faculty, or staff using WebSpace tickets. A ticket is a link to the file you want to share.

  1. Right-click the file or folder name, and then select Share from the pop-up menu.

  2. Enter the e-mail address of the person you want to share your file with, and click Next. If you want to share the file or folder with multiple people, enter their addresses separated by semicolons.

  3. Set the permissions you want to give the person you are sharing with by selecting either the Viewer or Contributor radio button.

  4. By default, tickets last for 30 days and do not require a password to access the file being shared. If you want to change these options, select the Ticket Options arrow and fill out the required fields.

  5. Click Next.

  6. WebSpace automatically sends e-mail notifications to everyone you are sharing the file with. If you do not want people to receive an e-mail notification, make sure the Send the below email when I click Finish is not selected.

  7. If you want to customize the notification e-mail, enter your changes in the Subject field and/or the message text area.

  8. If you would like to receive a copy of the notification e-mail, make sure the Also send the email to me check box is selected.

  9. Click Finish.

To see tickets for a particular file, right-click on the file, select Manage, and then select Tickets.
