Connecting to WebSpace With WebDAV in Linux
WebSpace supports a connection protocol known as WebDAV
, which allows you to access your WebSpace folder directly from your hard drive instead of going through a Web browser. The following documentation has been tested in Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx). The steps may vary with different distributions of Linux.
From the menu bar across the top of the screen, select Places and choose Connect to Server.
In the Connect to Server window, select Secure WebDAV (HTTPS) from the Service Type pull-down menu.
In the Server field, type in: "webspace.utexas.edu/youruteid"
Note: Make sure to substitute your EID in for the youruteid section at the end of the server address.
Click Connect.
Enter your EID and EID password at the username and password prompts, select your preference for saving passwords, and click Connect.
A File Browser window will automatically open.
Disconnecting from WebDAV
To disconnect your WebDAV connection you will need to unmount the WebSpace network drive.
Locate the WebDAV icon on your desktop.
Right-click on the icon.
Select Unmount.
