Drag-and-drop in Advanced Upload Tool for Mac

While using Mac OS X 10.6.8 or 10.7.2 (and possibly other versions) and Safari 5.1.1, Google Chrome 15.0, Firefox 5.0.1, or Firefox 8.0, the drag-and-drop functionality of the Advanced Upload tool will not work. Follow the procedure below to restore the drag-and-drop functionality.

  1. Load the applet normally by clicking the Upload button in the toolbar.

  2. Click on the Advanced Upload link in the text just above the file list pane.

  3. While holding the Command and Shift keys on the keyboard, hover the cursor over the upload applet (i.e., the file list pane area you drag and drop files to).

  4. A title bar will appear over the upload applet. Click and drag the title bar to pick up the upload applet, and move it out of its original location.

This will restore drag-and-drop functionality. However, the applet will not close automatically after the file upload completes.

Note: This drag-and-drop issue does not seem to affect Windows machines.
