Managing Permissions in WebSpace

To begin assigning permissions to a user or group:

  1. Click on the file or folder for which you want to manage permissions.

  2. Click Manage, then select Permissions from the pop-up menu. This will display the permissions menu for the file or folder. All of the users, groups, and tickets which have access are displayed and defined.

  3. Under the Basic Permissions tab, users, groups, and tickets are given permissions by selecting a radio button: Viewer (Read-Only), Contributor (Read, Write, Delete), and Full Access (Read, Write, Delete, Administer).
    Under the Advanced Permissions tab, users, groups, and tickets are given permissions by selecting check boxes:

    • Read Permission: grants the user, group, or ticket the ability to read the file or folder.
    • Write Permission: grants the user, group, or ticket the ability to modify the file or folder and all its subcontents.
    • Delete Permission: grants the user, group, or ticket to move the file or folder to the trash.
    • Administer Permission: grants the user, group, or ticket access to a file or folder's Manage/Summary screen and the permission to make modifications.
    • Inheritable Permission: sets a folder permissions to be inheritable, meaning that any files or subfolders created within the folder will share its permissions to the designated user, group, or ticket.

      Note: Inheritable permissions only display for folders, not files.

  4. To add a new user or group, click Add User/Group in the upper right-hand corner.

Note: You may also grant users access to your files by sharing in WebSpace.
