Creating a Personal Wiki for Individual Use

Confluence refers to personal wikis as personal spaces. Students, faculty, and staff can follow these steps to create a personal space:

  • Go to Confluence and click Log In at the top of the page.
  • Complete the login form using your UT EID credentials.
  • Once logged in, hover the cursor over your name to view the preferences menu.
  • Click Create a Personal Space.
  • Select your desired settings:
    • Who can View and Comment.
  • You may choose to allow anyone in the University community to view and comment on your space by leaving the box checked for Registered users - anyone logged into Confluence. This includes anyone with a UT EID.
  • You may choose to allow anyone in the world to view and comment on your space by checking Anonymous - anyone, logged in or not. This includes everyone on the Web.
    • Who can Contribute (create and edit).
  • You may choose to allow anyone in the University community to edit your space by checking the box for Registered users - anyone logged into Confluence. This includes anyone with a UT EID.
  • You are not permitted to allow anonymous create or edit permissions for your space. You must leave the box for Anonymous - anyone, logged in or not unchecked.
  • Click the Create button.
  • Your personal space is now available in the list of My Spaces on the Dashboard and in the menu under your name in the header.
