Setting Up on Mac OS X 10.7

To connect your Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) computer to the wireless network, you may use either the automated or manual method provided below.

Automated Method

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon at the top of the screen, then select Open Network Preferences. If your computer’s wireless feature is off, then select Turn Wi-Fi On.
  2. Select from the Network Name menu and wait until you are connected.
  3. Open a Web browser.
  4. You should be redirected to a UT login page. Log in using your UT EID and password.
  5. Select Click here to set up restricted now.
  6. Under Mac OS, click automated installer.
  7. Click the green Start > button.
  8. A window will pop up. Click Allow.
  9. The XpressConnect window will open. Enter your UT EID and password, then click Continue.
  10. Enter your computer account information in the window that pops up, then click OK.
  11. If the installer is successful, a green check mark will appear and you can click Done. Your computer should now be connected to the network. If you run into problems during the installation, please try the manual installation method.

Manual Method

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon at the top of the screen, select Turn Wi-Fi On and then

  2. In the authentication pop-up box, enter the following information:

    • Username: Your UT EID
    • Password: Your UT EID password
    • Check Remember this network.
  3. If a window labeled Verify Certificate opens, click Show Certificate. Make sure that the certificate is issued from Thawte Premium Server CA.

    • If the certificate is NOT issued from Thawte Premium Server CA, then you are connecting to an untrusted network. Click Cancel, and try connecting in a different area.
    • If the certificate IS issued from Thawte Premium Server CA, then check Always trust "," and click Continue.
  4. Click Join.

You are now connected to the network.

Note: In some cases, your computer may not be able to reconnect to after it has been restarted, put in Sleep mode, or connected to another network. To resolve this, select the Wi-Fi icon in the desktop menu bar and toggle Wi-Fi off and then on.
