ITS Help Desk

In response to customer feedback, the ITS Help Desk has extended its hours for phone, chat, and e-mail support. Starting September 28, 2009, these services are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Walk-in and drop-off service hours are still 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Overview

The ITS Help Desk provides students, faculty and staff at The University of Texas at Austin with a centralized point of contact for technical support services. Whether the problem is e-mail, your EID, telephone, or another technical question, the ITS Help Desk is here with support and troubleshooting, and expert consulting for advanced questions.

Walk-in and Drop-off Service

Features

  • Available to answer questions by telephone, e-mail, chat, or on a walk-in basis
  • Support for personally owned computers at walk-in and drop-off service
  • Support for departmentally and personally owned computers via phone and chat
  • Coaching on resolving many common computer problems, including backing up data, securing your computer, and updating your operating system and applications
  • Referrals to expert systems consultants specializing in Unix, Windows, Macintosh, or desktop and networking systems
  • Referrals to expert applications consultants specializing in statistical, mathematical, database management, Web publishing, or desktop software applications, including thesis and dissertation templates

Cost

Consulting with the ITS Help Desk via phone, chat, e-mail, or the walk-in services is available at no cost to students, faculty and staff. There is a fee for the Drop-off Service.
