UT LabMan Server

UT LabMan server is the central controller of the computer lab system, and runs on a Windows NT-class OS. It communicates with software running on the lab computers to monitor their status and perform any actions necessary. Its many tasks include coordinating the queuing and assignment of users on the waiting list to available workstations in the lab, tracking users help requests, and generating system log files.

UT LabMan Console

The UT LabMan Console provides the user interface for the UT-LabMan Server and can be run on the UT-LabMan Server computer or on any remote PC. It is used to monitor and control the status of the lab and each workstation in it, administration of the waiting list and other special lab user lists. Two console versions are included. The "Proctor Console" has some commands disabled to prevent accidental change of the lab configuration.

UT LabMan WaitList

The UT LabMan WaitList is an optional application that runs on a Windows 9x-class computer. It allows users to sign up on a waiting list for a specific computer type, or remove his or her name from the list. It also displays a map of the lab and can highlight the stations by group, so users can easily locate a desired computer type.

UT LabMan Assignments Display

The UT LabMan Assignments display is an optional application that runs on Macintosh computer. It displays assignments and waiting list information. Although no television is required, its information screens are designed to be easily readable at TV monitor resolutions and from a distance. Multiple displays are supported.

UT LabMan Clients

The UT LabMan clients coordinate with the UT-LabMan server to restrict access to workstations, display the status on-screen, initiate disk contents maintenance, and other tasks. Supported operating systems include:

    • Windows XP
    • Mac OS X
    • Windows NT and 2000
