How to Order
Use the Long Distance Office Order Forms to order new service or to make changes to your existing service. Long distance services must be charged to an University account number and should therefore be ordered on the appropriate form with an authorized signature.
Making Long Distance Calls
University Authorization Codes, Domestic Calls
| What You Do | What You Hear |
|---|---|
| 1) Lift the handset from the cradle. | Dial Tone |
| 2) Dial "8". | Stutter Dial Tone |
| 3) Dial your long distance authorization code. | Second Dial Tone |
| 4) After second dial tone begins, dial Area Code + phone number. Do not dial a "1" before the area code. | Ringing |
Notes:
- Entering a "#" after dialing the authorization code will eliminate the wait for a second dial tone.
- Entering a "#" after dialing the long distance number will shorten call set up time.
- If all the outgoing lines are busy, you will hear a distinct tone (queuing tone) or recorded announcement (queuing announcement) indicating your call is in queue. Continue holding. The system will complete your call as soon as a line becomes free.
