Creating a Mailing List

To own a mailing list, you must have an e-mail address in the "utexas.edu" domain. If you have an appropriate e-mail address:

  1. Log on using your e-mail address and mailing list password.

    NOTE: if you do not have a mailing list password, refer to Logging On To UT Lists.
     
  2. Click the Create List tab.
  3. Enter the name you want for the list. List names must follow these rules:
    • List names must be all lower case.
    • The first character of the list name must be a letter or number.
    • The rest of the list name can contain letters, numbers, dashes (-), periods (.), plus signs (+) and underscores (_).
    • The list name name cannot have spaces.
  4. Choose the list type most appropriate for your type of list.
  5. Enter the subject of the list, and choose an appropriate topic for the list.
  6. Add a short description of your list, then click Submit your creation request.
