Managing Lists Using E-mail

Although the Web is the preferred interface for using UT Lists, you can also send commands to your list using e-mail.

Note: You must send all e-mail commands from the e-mail address that you used to create the list.

Subscribing to a List Using E-mail

To subscribe to a list using e-mail, send a message to sympa@utlists.utexas.edu and put the following message in the subject line:

sub LISTNAME

Be sure to substitute the name of the list you're subscribing to for LISTNAME.

Inviting Someone to Subscribe to Your List Using E-mail

To subscribe to a list using e-mail, send a message to sympa@utlists.utexas.edu and put the following message in the subject line:

invite LISTNAME ADDRESS

Be sure to substitute the name of your list for LISTNAME, and substitute the e-mail address of the person you want to subscribe for ADDRESS.

Adding Someone to Your List Using E-mail

To add someone to a list using e-mail, send a message to sympa@utlists.utexas.edu and put the following message in the subject line:

add LISTNAME ADDRESS PERSONALNAME

Be sure to substitute the name of your list for LISTNAME, and substitute the e-mail address of the person you want to subscribe for ADDRESS.

Getting a List of E-mail Commands

To retrieve a list of e-mail commands for UT Lists, send a message to sympa@utlists.utexas.edu and put the following message in the subject line:

HELP
