What should I do with my old Listproc list after I migrate my list?
Option 1 (Recommended): Leave the Listproc list configured, but use the `Gone to UT Lists' autoresponder.
- Advantages: List subscribers will receive a positive redirect to the new list.
- Disadvantages: List subscribers must resend the message to the new list.
To use this option:
- Go to the Autoresponder set up application.
- Enter the list name and password for your old lists.cc.utexas.edu list, then click Go.
- Enter the list name of your new UT Lists list, then click the Create autoresponder button.
The autoresponder will return a helpful redirect message to anybody who sends e-mail to the old list.
Option 2: Forward the old list to the new list
- Advantages: E-mail to old address is not bounced.
- Disadvantages: List subscribers will use the old list name forever.
To use this option:
- Remove all subscribers from your old lists.cc.utexas.edu list.
- Add a single new subscriber - your new mailing list at utlists.utexas.edu - to your old list.
Option 3: Delete the old Listproc list
- Advantages: List subscribers will get the point that the list no longer exists.
- Disadvantages: E-mail to the old list bounces without any notification.
