Accessing Your E-mail From Off Campus (Outlook 2003)

To access your Austin Exchange Messaging Service (AEMS) account using Outlook 2003, you must create a user "profile." Defining a profile tells Outlook how to locate and log into your mailbox on the server.

To access your e-mail from off campus:

  1. From the Tools menu, select E-mail accounts.
  2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, then select Next.
  3. Select Microsoft Exchange Server, then click the Change button.
  4. Select More Settings, then select the Connection tab.
  5. Select the Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP option.
  6. Click the Exchange Proxy Settings button.
  7. At Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange, enter "wmail.austin.utexas.edu".
  8. Select both of the following options:
    • Connect using SSL only
    • Mutually authenticate the session when connecting with SSL.
  9. At Principal name for proxy server, enter "msstd:wmail.austin.utexas.edu".
  10. Select both of the following options:
    • On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
    • On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
  11. From the Use this authentication when connecting to my proxy server for Exchange drop-down menu, select NTLM Authentication. Click OK.
