ITS Help Desk Gets New Call System

On January 8, 2009, the ITS Help Desk Call Center began using a new Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) system. Now when you place a call to the ITS Help Desk Call Center, you can select from three options to route your call to the consultant who is best able to help you. The current options are:

  1. EID
  2. Wireless
  3. Other

The new ACD system arrives at an important time for the ITS Help Desk. The first few weeks of each semester are also the busiest. Semester breaks are a breeding ground for computer viruses, misconfigured wireless connections, and forgotten EID passwords. As students, faculty, and staff return to campus, many contact the ITS Help Desk Call Center by phone to help them resolve these issues. The improved ACD system will ease some of this bustle for both consultants and customers.

If you need assistance with your computer, connecting to the campus network, or removing viruses and spyware, contact the ITS Help Desk Call Center at 512-475-9400 and try out the new ACD system yourself. Consultants are also available through chat, e-mail, and walk-in service in the lobby of the Flawn Academic Center (FAC).
