Improved Search Features in SharePoint Server Upgrade

Earlier this month, Information Technology Services (ITS) upgraded SharePoint services on campus to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS). The upgrade, which was implemented on January 3 and 4, provides improvements and new features for university SharePoint users, including:

  • More search functionality, including the ability to search content across all SharePoint sites for which you have member privileges
  • The ability to search for other university SharePoint users
  • A "My Links" display of all SharePoint sites for which you have member privileges
  • Site collection auditing
  • Site collection usage reports

If you are a SharePoint site administrator, ITS recommends you verify that your group's permission sets are up-to-date, to ensure that the new search features function correctly.
