On Monday, January 26, 2009, Information Technology Services (ITS) hosted a Microsoft town hall-style meeting on campus. The town hall was an opportunity for Microsoft to present information about recent changes to the Microsoft Campus Agreement (MSCA) and to showcase innovative uses of technologies available under the MSCA. University and UT System staff attended in person and via Webcast.
ITS, Microsoft and Dell representatives gave presentations on a number of related topics:
- the new MSCA and how it differs from the old agreement
- an in-depth look at a day in the life of a typical information worker enabled with Microsoft technology
- an overview of Microsoft SharePoint and its capabilities
- an explanation of current ITS SharePoint offerings
- a technical discussion about best practices for SharePoint site architecture and governance.
"With this event, Microsoft and Dell showed that they are not just vendors, but partners and supporters of UT System," said Barbara Opyt, Director of the ITS Education & Development Office, who helped organize the event. "They both went the extra mile to help us understand the new campus agreement and the capabilities that it offers."
If you were unable to attend the town hall, you can view archived copies of the webcasts and documents from the meeting on the January 2009 Microsoft Town Hall Web page.
