BACS Policy Update
January 7, 2011
Updates to the Building Access Control System (BACS) Alarm Monitoring and Response Policy will take effect on February 1, 2011.
In order to reduce the number of responses to false alarms, the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD) will no longer monitor or respond to alarms on interior doors secured by BACS between 6 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The BACS system, an important campus-wide service provided by Information Technology Services, will continue to function normally. The card readers’ functionality and the ability to secure doors or provide access control will not be impacted.
Those with additional concerns should contact Officer Darrell Halstead at darrell.halstead@austin.utexas.edu or Officer Layne Smith at m.smith@austin.utexas.edu prior to the implementation date.
