On August 31, 2007, Information Technology Services (ITS) will retire the Telesys dial-up Internet service. As part of a regular, ongoing evaluation of its service offerings, ITS has elected to shift Telesys resources to newer technologies that promise greater benefits for the entire campus community. Please note that this service retirement does not affect university e-mail accounts, only the method by which e-mail users may access these accounts.
If you currently subscribe to Telesys through your academic or administrative department, consult your Technical Support Contact (TSC) for advice on what options are available to you. If you are an independent subscriber, you are encouraged to investigate the following options:
- Get a dial-up account with a commercial Internet service provider (ISP). These services normally provide dial up access for a monthly fee, usually $10 to $25. Some common providers are:
- Earthlink Dial-Up, phone: 1-866-226-0572
- Juno Internet, phone: 1-800-390-5866
- NetZero, phone: 1-800-638-9376
- Get a high-speed account with a commercial ISP. These services provide significantly faster connections and downloads, but are costlier. Common providers include:
- Suddenlink, phone: 1-888-822-5151
- Earthlink High Speed DSL, phone: 1-800-327-8454
- Road Runner (Time Warner), phone: 1-512-485-5555
If you have any questions regarding Telesys please contact the ITS Help Desk at 512-475-9400.
