Researchers lost decades of work at the UT Health Science Center due to flooding from Tropical Storm Allison. The impact of Hurricane Ike on the UT Medical Branch is still being felt. No institution is immune from disasters, and UT branches are certainly no exception.
In the aftermath of a disaster, would you know how to recover your experimental data and keep your research going? If you weren't available, would your graduate students know how to get in touch with campus technical personnel? Do your technical support contacts know which of your computing resources are most critical to your research?
A good disaster recovery plan helps you answer these questions before the need arises. To assist you, the Information Security Office (ISO) has made the Restarting Texas application. Join the ISO for an information session on disaster recovery and demonstrate how Restarting Texas can help you build a plan to keep your work alive in the event of a disaster.
When: April 16, 2009, 1 - 2 p.m.
Where: FAC 101B
Note: No pre-registration required
In addition to this information session, ITS Education and Development is coordinating workshops the mornings of April 24 and May 6 to help you with any questions you might have while building your disaster recovery plan. You can register for these workshops in TXClass as TX 422.
