SANS Training Subsidization Changes

Due to budget constraints, Information Technology Services (ITS) will no longer offer fully subsidized SANS Institute OnDemand training for qualified information security staff. Therefore, the SANS training classes that ITS is holding in June (TX 902 and 905) will be the last classes for which fully subsidized tuition and certification exam fees will be available.

Ensuring that campus information security staff have access to the best possible training continues to be a top priority. UT System has negotiated a substantial discount with SANS Institute for the OnDemand courses, and is still offering a partial subsidy for those courses. The partial subsidy, combined with the discount, lowers course tuition significantly. For example, the SANS Security Essentials course retails for $2,995 but the tuition for university information security staff would cost $333. Exam fees are not subsidized, but may be discounted.

You can view a list of qualified courses and their prices, which include both tuition and exam fees.

ITS plans to schedule additional facilitated SANS training classes soon at the significantly discounted rates referenced above. Please contact ITS Education and Development at training@its.utexas.edu with questions or concerns.
