Share Your Source Code on UTForge

Information Technology Services (ITS) has created an interface, UTForge, that allows software developers on campus to store and share source code they write. Enabling software developers to share code at the source level can help to eliminate redundancy in coding and promote learning and collaboration among colleges and departments. UTForge can also increase project efficiency by facilitating communication and issue resolution.

Andrew Kutz, Senior Systems Developer in ITS Applications, helped create UTForge and thinks it will benefit his colleagues across campus. "The UT developer community has been asking for a centrally available version control system for a long time. We are happy to provide them with that and so much more. We hope UTForge becomes a mecca for the best and brightest ideas that campus developers have to offer."

UTForge includes the following features:

  • Project management features, such as wikis and roadmaps
  • Searchable index of stored projects

UTForge is available at no cost to faculty and staff at the university. Anyone with a UT EID can browse projects, though only those with a developer entitlement can create projects and make changes.
