UT System Focuses on Information Security
August 27, 2010
Recently the Chancellor of the University of Texas System (UT System) sent a memorandum directing each campus to make immediate changes in the reporting structure of the campus Chief Information Security Officer. UT System also announced that security audits of every campus, including UT Austin, will be launched in the near future. These changes are prompted by the increasing importance placed on the security of information resources as strategic and vital assets.
In response to the memorandum, President Powers decided that Cam Beasley, Chief Information Security Officer for the University, will report directly to Kevin Hegarty, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effectively immediately. Cam will report directly to Kevin and continue his collaborative working relationship with Brad Englert, Chief Information Officer, and the ITS leadership team.
