Mooov-In 2011: Helping You Get Started
August 18, 2011
On Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20, 2011, the university community will welcome new and returning students moving into residence halls during Mooov-In 2011. Students, faculty and staff traditionally help students move into their residence halls the weekend before fall semester classes begin. This year, 70 percent of the 7,400 students who will live in campus residence halls are freshmen students, so the event is a great way to welcome them to the University.
During Mooov-In, Information Technology Services (ITS) Help Desk staff, along with some surprise volunteers, will be on hand to assist at Kinsolving and Jester residence halls from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day and remain onsite through Monday, August 22. The Help Desk itself will also have extended hours to be sure incoming students have their IT-related questions answered.
This year, The Division of Housing and Food Service (DHFS) and the Central Business Office (CBO) worked closely with ITS throughout the summer to be sure everything is ready for students as they move into the residence halls. Subscriptions to Resnet (Residence Hall Network), the Internet network for residence halls on campus, are now automatically included in the housing room rate. Subscriptions can be upgraded for an additional fee. DHFS residence hall advisers are also distributing ITS Help Desk information to each room so students will know to call 512-475-9400 whenever they need IT help.
