For fiscal year 2008-2009, ITS changed the pricing and offerings for several services. ITS has been able to significantly reduce costs for some services, while costs of labor have lead to an increase in price for other services.
The following price decreases went into effect on September 1, 2008:
- Austin Exchange Messaging Service (AEMS)
- Now available at no cost to faculty and staff, with the default mailbox size increased to 200 MB
- Additional disk space reduced to $7 per GB per year
- Microsoft SharePoint—Branded URL reduced from $1800 per year to $1600 per year
- Microsoft SQL Server—Reduced from $600 per year to $150 per year
- MySQL Disk Storage—Additional disk space reduced from $45 per gigabyte (GB) per year to $7 per GB per year
- Virtual Servers—Standard VM (512 RAM, 10 GB HD) reduced from $1200 per year to $700 per year
ITS has seen the cost of disk drives fall dramatically, and the improvements in storage technology mean that we can use less expensive options while maintaining and enhancing performance and quality. ITS is passing these savings on to our customers, making services that rely on fast, redundant, Category-I approved disk space less expensive than ever.
The following price increases went into effect on September 1, 2008:
- Computer Equipment Repair
- Technician trip charge—Increased from no cost per trip to $46 per trip
- Repair estimates—Increased from $30 per estimate to $35 per estimate, applied to the cost of repair
- Delivery and pick-up—Increased from no cost to $25 or $46, depending on ITS staff availability
- SPSS
- SPSS for Mac base software package increased from $241 to $270 per installation
- SPSS for Mac base package plus all module software increased from $548 to $615 per installation
