Oops! You Are Almost Out of Bandwidth!

September 19, 2011

If you want to keep track of your bandwidth usage, sign up for automatic email notices you can customize to meet your needs. The messages have been dressed up with a new format and clearer instructions.

Go to the External Bandwidth Quota page and set up the options that work best for you. You can receive notice when:

  • A percentage of your total weekly bandwidth has been used - You specify the percentage.
  • All of your first-class bandwidth is used -You can continue to access the Internet using the second-class network, subscribe to a weekly bandwidth plan or purchase one-time bandwidth through TXShop. Go to the Buying Additional Bandwidth site for more information.
  • The amount of data you upload increases significantly - This can be a sign that your computer is infected with a virus or a P2P application. You can select the activity level that triggers a notice.

The final step in the process is selecting where you want the notices to be sent. The default setting is your official university email address.
