Adobe Acrobat Concurrent Licensing Changes

Announcement notifies users of transition plans for Adobe product users.

Adobe recently sent out a notification that concurrent licensing will not be supported for Adobe Acrobat version 8 and later. For customers under a current upgrade plan, Adobe will provide you with three licenses for every one Adobe Acrobat Version 7 concurrent license you have under the plan.

For customers NOT under an upgrade plan, you may continue to use Adobe Acrobat 7 in a concurrent mode, but there is no special upgrade plan to go to Acrobat 8.

For more detailed information, refer to the Adobe announcement about this change in volume licensing included below or to the Adobe Web site.

ADOBE VOLUME LICENSING

Dear Acrobat Customer,

Today, Adobe is announcing that concurrent licensing will no longer be available for the Adobe Acrobat family of products, starting with the general availability of Version 8.  This announcement only affects the Acrobat product family. All other concurrent licenses (non-Acrobat) remain the same. As valued customers, we want to communicate this change to you and help to make the transition from concurrent licensing easy and seamless.

Adobe Acrobat usage has become nearly ubiquitous; Acrobat users have shown a growing preference for wanting to be able to use the software whenever they need it – online or offline.  Therefore, Acrobat usage no longer lends itself well to a concurrent usage model – which works best for task-specific tools. Purchasing  patterns over the last few years have confirmed this shifting user  preference; for example, as the number of Acrobat users in the  Education marketplace has increased, the proportion using concurrent  licenses has dropped 40%.

To aid in the transition from concurrent licensing, you will receive three Acrobat 8 regular non-concurrent licenses for each Acrobat 7 concurrent license if you have concurrent Acrobat licenses currently covered under the Upgrade Plan. These Acrobat 8 licenses will each continue to carry Upgrade Plan coverage for the remainder of the term for your paid Upgrade Plan. If you have concurrent licenses that are not covered under the Upgrade Plan, you may continue to use your Acrobat 7 licenses concurrently; however, there is no special transition plan for concurrent licenses that are not covered under the Upgrade Plan. For further information about this transition plan, please visit our website: Adobe - Volume licensing for educational institutions.

Adobe thanks you for your continued business and looks forward to providing you with innovative software in ways that meet your needs.

Sincerely,

Adobe Licensing
