Enriching the Lives of Students, Faculty and Staff
Special thanks to Mark McFarland, IT Director, College of Natural Sciences; Russ Poldrack, Imaging Research Center Director, College of Liberal Arts and College of Natural Sciences; and Jim Kerkhoff, Assistant Dean for IT, College of Fine Arts, for participating in a campus leadership panel at the Quarterly Information Technology Services (ITS) All-Staff Meeting this week. It was exciting to hear each of them describe their typical days, identify challenges, and let ITS staff know how they can better support them, and how IT enables and enriches the work of students, faculty and staff. Liz Aebersold, Director, Communications and Strategy Management, moderated the panel.
Key take-aways from the discussion are: IT delivery on campus is a team sport requiring trust, ongoing communication and commitment to strategic partnerships. Across the board, IT needs to be leveraged as a key strategic asset for the University, helping faculty and students accomplish what has never been done. Adaptability and flexibility are also required for campus IT to support them in their work and studies.
