University IT Policies
Directives from UT System, the State of Texas, and federal legislation are major factors in determining the policies and procedures that must be implemented to manage information technology at The University of Texas at Austin. Chapter 202 of the Texas Administrative Code details information security standards as administered by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR). These policies are, in turn, implemented by UT System. As a component institution of UT System, The University of Texas at Austin is responsible for implementing information technology policies adopted by UT System and other governing bodies. (You may also want to refer to the complete set of UT System Regents Rules & Regulations.)
As the provider of the physical network, major services and applications, security, and infrastructure information technology, Information Technology Services and its departments are charged with implementing many information technology policies here on campus.
