Configuring the Firewall on a Mac OS X Computer
If you are using either a Norton Personal Firewall or the built-in Mac OS X firewall, you must complete additional steps to successfully install the remote printing software on your personal Macintosh OS X computer
NOTE: If you do not have a firewall installed, you do not need to take any addition steps.
If you have installed the Norton Personal Firewall:
After you have downloaded and installed the remote printing software, you will be prompted to change the configuration of the firewall.
- In the Norton Personal Firewall AutoSetup window, click Change. This allows the printing software to connect to port 28212.
- In the Access to Port 28212 allowed screen, click Done.
After closing the installer window, you will be prompted to change the configuration of the firewall a second time.
- In the Norton Personal Firewall AutoSetup window, click Change. This allows the printing software to connect to port 28201.
- In the Access to Port 28201 allowed screen, click Done.
The Norton Personal Firewall is now configured so that your remote printing software works.
