Configuring the Firewall on a Mac OS X Computer

If you are using either a Norton Personal Firewall or the built-in Mac OS X firewall, you must complete additional steps to successfully install the remote printing software on your personal Macintosh OS X computer

NOTE: If you do not have a firewall installed, you do not need to take any addition steps.

If you have installed the Norton Personal Firewall:

After you have downloaded and installed the remote printing software, you will be prompted to change the configuration of the firewall.

  1. In the Norton Personal Firewall AutoSetup window, click Change. This allows the printing software to connect to port 28212.
  2. In the Access to Port 28212 allowed screen, click Done.

After closing the installer window, you will be prompted to change the configuration of the firewall a second time.

  1. In the Norton Personal Firewall AutoSetup window, click Change. This allows the printing software to connect to port 28201.
  2. In the Access to Port 28201 allowed screen, click Done.

The Norton Personal Firewall is now configured so that your remote printing software works.
