Effective May 11, 2009, UT Austin is not renewing its license for Symantec. The license expires on September 23, 2009. Please see the Replacement Project tab for more information.
ITS provides Microsoft Forefront Client Security for Windows and ClamXav for Mac OS X for use on and off campus by students, faculty, and staff at The University of Texas at Austin. Client software can be downloaded from the BevoWare site.
Microsoft Forefront Client Security for Windows provides:
- Anti-virus protection with daily updates of virus definition files
- Anti-spyware scanning
- Anti-virus and spyware protection for Mac OS X users running the Windows operating system in a virtual environment
ClamXav for Mac OS X provides anti-virus protection with daily updates of virus definition files
Cost and Eligibility
ClamXav and Microsoft Forefront Client Security are provided at no cost from BevoWare to current students, faculty, and staff.
Departments are also eligible to purchase media through the Dell:
- Forefront Client Security Management Console
- Forefront Server Security Management Console
- Forefront Security for Exchange Server
- Forefront Security for SharePoint
Although there are no licensing fees for departments, there may be a media charge for each product.
We strongly recommend that users contact their departmental IT staff before deploying any products that may adversely affect the installation of other software security products in your area.
