Forefront Client Security: Supported Operating Systems
Forefront Client Security is supported by Microsoft for a number of operating systems. You must have the latest patches installed in order for Forefront to install successfully.
Desktop Operating Systems
- Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 and Update Rollup 1
- Windows XP, Professional, Home and Tablet Editions, SP2 or later, x86 and x64
- Windows Vista Ultimate, Enterprise, Business, and Home Editions, Original, SP1 and SP2; x86 and x64
Forefront Client Security does not work on Windows XP Media Center. There are several free anti-virus alternatives you can try, including ClamWin, avast!, and AVG Free. Remember to completely uninstall any other anti-virus products you have before installing a new product.
Server Operating Systems
- Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter, and clusters with SP4 Update Rollup 1
- Windows Server 2003, any edition, SP1 or later, x86 and x64, and clusters
- Windows Server 2008, Enterprise, Standard, Core, and HPC Edition, SP1 and SP2, x86 and x64, and clusters
- Windows Servers running Terminal Services
