Microsoft Campus Agreement Server Questions

Our department has Windows Terminal Server, how does this agreement relate to that?

Windows Server Terminal Server CALs for UT faculty, staff, and students are covered under the MSCA as part of our longstanding program with Microsoft.

Do departments have to purchase individual Client Access Licenses (CALs) for Server products?

Please see Microsoft Enterprise Client Access licenses for more information.

May we install Microsoft Office on our server and use it in a distributed mode to our clients rather than installing it on each client machine?

Any client system accessing Office via a server must be licensed under the UT System Microsoft Campus Agreement (i.e., a UT owned machine). Outside entities may NOT access Office via a server.

Windows Terminal Server and Citrix software is the only method we are aware of to serve Office to client machines. Windows Terminal Server is included with Windows 2000 server. If you are running NT server you will need to purchase the Windows Terminal Server version. Access for X-terminal or Macintosh clients will require Citrix software.
