Security Training from SANS Institute
Due to budget constraints, ITS will no longer offer fully subsidized SANS OnDemand training after the classes scheduled for June 2009.
Stay up-to-date with the latest security methods and technologies through accredited information security training from the SANS Institute, an industry leader in security best practices and education.
The SANS OnDemand training program at The University of Texas at Austin includes the following:
- Online content delivered in a facilitated format by ITS
- In-depth study materials, with access to the online lectures and activities for 10 to 16 weeks after the course is completed
The courses are based on online material from the SANS Institute and prepare students to take the Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) exam. The GIAC is an information security certification that is recognized industry-wide.
The facilitated sessions increase the likelihood of passing the associated exam and provide valuable security information specific to The University of Texas at Austin.
Both facilitated and self-paced courses are available to university staff at significantly discounted rates. UT System has negotiated a substantial discount with SANS Institute for OnDemand courses, and also offers a partial tuition subsidy for some courses for qualified information security staff.
