ITS will be upgrading to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Service Pack 2 on Sunday, August 16, 2009, between midnight and 6 a.m. SharePoint will be unavailable during this time.
Service Pack 2 includes the following benefits:
- Enhanced performance across the service, including improved database performance
- Improved browser support: Internet Explorer 8 is now a Level 1 browser, and Firefox (2.0/3.0) is now a Level 2 browser
- Reduced number of logons for users with non-Internet Explorer browsers
In addition, SP2 provides a number of new tools that will allow an easier upgrade to the next generation of SharePoint (SharePoint 2010).
