Connecting Securely to austin.utexas.edu (Windows)
Configuring Your Computer for IPSec
NOTE: You MUST have administrative privileges to complete these procedures.
- If you are connecting to disk services from an off-campus location, use the university virtual private network (VPN), then skip to the Mapping a Drive procedure below. You will need the Cisco VPN for Windows client software, which you can download for free from BevoWare.
- Ask your Technical Support Contact (TSC) if he or she needs to apply the IPSec group policy to your Austin Active Directory organizational unit.
- If your computer is on campus but not joined to Austin Active Directory, complete the following steps:
- Download the IPSec Configuration Installer from the Utilities section of BevoWare (UT EID required).
- Run (or open) the installer file, IPSecCfg.exe.
- In the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box, click the Unzip button.
- Follow the instructions in the installation wizard to configure your computer for IPSec.

- In the Folder field, enter \\disk.austin.utexas.edu\root\eid or sharename. Replace eid with your UT EID if you are connecting to your personal directory, or sharename with your shared drive if you are connecting to your departmental directory.
