Connecting to austin.utexas.edu Disk Services Using Secure FTP (Windows)
You will need a secure FTP client for Windows to connect to disk services on austin.utexas.edu. ITS recommends the SSH 3.2.3 client included in BevoWare.
- Download and install SSH 3.2.3 at no cost from BevoWare.
- If you are connecting from off-campus, establish a VPN connection.
- Select Start, then All Programs. Select SSH Secure Shell, then Secure File Transfer Client.
- Select Quick Connect.
- In the Host name field, enter sftp.austin.utexas.edu.
- In the User name field, enter your UT EID.
- In the Port number field, enter 22.
- In the Authentication Method field, select password.
- Select Connect.
- If you are prompted to save a new host key to local database, answer Yes.
- Enter your UT EID password at the prompt.
Once you have opened your connection via SSH, you can go to your home directory under your EID. If you have been granted access on a departmental share, you can find the share within the DepartmentalDirectories folder. Note that if you try to access a directory that you do not have permission for, that directory will appear blank in SSH.
