Overview
The ITS Style Guide is an online reference for the Information Technology Services (ITS) department at The University of Texas at Austin. There are two main sections of the guide:
- The Writer's Guide provides consistency to ITS publications, covering correct writing style, word usage, capitalization, punctuation, and other issues that arise daily in written communications, with a focus on technical communications. ITS Strategic Communications provides this guide as a resource for ITS staff and anyone in the university community who writes about technology. The Writer's Guide also includes:
- An updated list of words and how to use them.
- An updated list of ITS products and services.
- A new section explaining how to write procedures.
- Templates provides ITS staff with access to templates for presentations, Web sites, and print. The templates incorporate the writing, graphic, and identity standards.
In the future, we will add content for The Web Guide and The Visual Guide. These guides which are currently under development, will provide web, graphic and identity standards for ITS. The standards will address the ITS logo, color palette for Web and print, specifications for graphics, the ITS brand profile, and more.
If you have any questions or comments about the ITS Style Guide and it's usage, please contact ITS Strategic Communications at stratcomm@its.utexas.edu.
