Eudora “Unknown Task” Error
Problem
The “sponsored,” ad supported version of Eudora 6.2 on the Mac OS returns the following error, “Error while performing unknown task for <<Dominant>>: No response from server after 120 seconds.”
Explanation
Eudora is no longer supported by its developer, Qualcomm. As a result, the ad server for “sponsored” versions of Eudora has been taken offline. When Eudora attempts to access this ad server, an error message is returned.
Determining if you are Affected
This will only affect Mac users who installed Eudora 6.2 from the Eudora Web site. Users of the version of Eudora that was formerly available on BevoWare are not affected since the BevoWare version included a University of Texas license and does not rely on ad support.
Solution
Despite displaying this error message, Eudora will continue to function in sending and receiving e-mail. However, since Eudora is no longer supported by the vendor, there will be no updates to remediate this problem.
