About UT's Spam Defense

ITS uses IronPort e-mail security appliances to protect the university from spam attacks. The front line of defense on these appliances is based on IronPort's SenderBase network. SenderBase is used to determine how to treat incoming SMTP connections. For each IP address it knows about, SenderBase assigns a reputation score ranging from -10.0 to +10.0. If the reputation score is negative, or if SenderBase has not yet assigned a reputation score to an IP address, then e-mail delivery may be delayed or the connection from that IP address may be refused.
If there has been a problem delivering e-mail messages, you will receive a delivery status notification from our systems which will include one of the following error messages:
