TED Directory Schema

There are six types of entities stored in the uTexas Enterprise Directory (TED): person, business, group, service (application), department (orgUnit), and id-only. Each entity type has a particular set of data attributes associated with it. The tables below contain information about those data attributes, including the attribute name, whether it is single- or multi-valued, whether it is a required attribute, whether it can be used as a search key, and other related information.

Note: As noted in the tables below, some non-person EID types use attributes that begin utexasEduPerson.... Take care when referring to attributes for non-person entities.

  • I – locked by the Information Security Office
  • S – locked by the EID system stewards
  • X, D – locked for other reasons

utexasEduPersonAttrRestrict – Values in this attribute enforce release restrictions on specific data attributes. Controlled vocabulary: BIRSD (birthdate - student), CLSSD (classification - student), EMLSD (email address - student), GRSSD (graduation semester - student), HADEM (home address - employee), HADSD (home address - student), HPHEM (home phone - employee), HPHSD (home phone - student), MAJSD (major - student), SCHSD (school/college - student).

utexasEduPersonRecordRestrict – Values in this attribute enforce blanket release restrictions on records. Controlled vocabulary: DECEM (deceased - employee), DECSD (deceased - student), SSPSD (special suppress - student), SUPSD (suppress - student), SWPSD (suppress from white pages listing - student), SUPEM (suppress - employee).

utexasEduPersonGroup – This attribute indicates membership in groups. Caution: This attribute is not currently in use.

utexasEduPersonHomeAddressSource, utexasEduPersonEmailSource, utexasEduPersonHomePhoneSource – These attributes indicate the source of the values populated in the homePostalAddress, mail and homePhone attributes. Controlled vocabulary: E (employee), I (central identity system), S (student), SL (student local/area), SP (student permanent).

utexasEduPersonEidClass – This attribute indicates the class to which the EID belongs. Controlled vocabulary: MEM (member), AFF (affiliate), GUE (guest).

Notes:

uid – Uids for services created prior to 5 August 2006 take the form: edu.utexas.[department-code].[service-descriptor] where [department-code] is the four-character University Department System code of the department sponsoring the service. Uids for services created after 5 August 2006 are equal to the service's UT EID.

inetUserStatus – Values in this attribute are used to determine whether the service is permitted to log into the directory. Controlled vocabulary: Active, Inactive.
