Mainframe Training IC 101 and IC 401
ITS offers two video-based tutorials focused on teaching end users and departmental contacts to use the administrative computing system (mainframe).
Mainframe Training - IC 101
This tutorial series is intended for UT Austin and UT System employees who are new to the mainframe. The training introduces the DEFINE application and covers basic system terminology needed to use the administrative computing system (mainframe).
Training Procedure
If your job responsibilities include using the mainframe, a mainframe account will be created for you. Once you have a mainframe account, you can enroll yourself in the IC 101 class series or your department may enroll you at the time your mainframe account is created. You can verify enrollment in the IC 101 class series in TXClass. Once enrolled, all you need to do to obtain training is view the four video-based tutorials below; no classroom instruction is provided. After you have completed the tutorials, please send an e-mail to training@its.utexas.edu.

Mainframe Training - IC 401
Department contacts are designated as a "security administrator." Responsibilities as a Department Contact include adding, deleting and changing User IDs, updating User ID information, providing initial passwords for EIDs, resetting EID passwords, and updating information for your department’s profile.
Course Objectives
To train department contacts on the various aspects and duties of managing mainframe user accounts and department profiles.
Course Audience
UT Austin and UT System employees with a mainframe account and an active departmental contact designation in DPUSER.
Schedule
