UMBS E-mail

Sending Attachments

UMBS e-mail has a size limit of 30 MB for messages. If you are sending a large message to a user on the UMBS e-mail system, you should not experience any problems. The majority of external systems, however, do have a 10 MB size limit for messages, and those systems will bounce a larger message back to the sender. If you need to make files larger than 10 MB available to someone outside of UMBS e-mail, consider publishing the file on WebSpace, or please contact the ITS Help Desk.

Note: If you are a proctor for a class and students will be submitting large files via e-mail, you might quickly reach your disk limit, thus not receiving all mail sent to you. In such cases, you should get either a personal account or a departmental account on an ITS UNIX system, where you can have higher limits.
