Emptying a Full Mailbox
If your e-mail correspondents report that the mail they send you is bouncing and that they have received a message reporting that your mailbox is full, there are several options for freeing up space:
- If you are using a desktop e-mail program to check mail and leaving a copy of each message on the server, you can fill up your mailbox. Delete e-mail messages you no longer need. You can also change the settings in the e-mail program to not leave a copy on the server. (Check the online help for your e-mail program for specific instructions.) The next time you check your e-mail, the program will download all the remaining messages from the server and your mailbox will empty.
- If you are using Webmail to send messages and saving copies of those messages in a 'Sent' folder, or including yourself in the list of recipients, you can also accumulate a lot of mail. Clean out the Sent mail folder.
- Use Webmail to check for messages saved on the server with large attachments. Save the attachments to your desktop and delete the messages from the server.
