Spring 2006 Newsletter
The following newsletter was sent out in March of 2006 as an e-mail to current subscribers, with the subject line "ITS Voice Mail Tips - Spring 2006."
Dear SmartVoice user,
Welcome to the new SmartVoice Tips e-newsletter, offered by Information Technology Services (ITS) to help you get more out of your voice mail system.
Accessing telephone help
You can access Help when retrieving your voice mail by phone by simply pressing the "*" key at any time.
Play messages automatically
Instead of pressing "2" to hear your messages when retrieving your voice mail by phone, play them automatically after making a quick change to your SmartVoice preferences. Find out more at https://www.utexas.edu/its/voicemail/answers/customizing.php#press2.
Removing "Called no message"
If a caller hangs up without leaving a message, the SmartVoice default is to place a "Called, no message" notice in your mailbox. To turn off this default setting, follow the simple steps at https://www.utexas.edu/its/voicemail/answers/customizing.php#nomsg.
Suppress caller number, time and date messages
The SmartVoice system automatically announces the caller number, time and date for each voice mail (referred to as the "message envelope.") You can turn off this default setting by making a quick change to your SmartVoice preferences. Follow the steps at http://www.utexas.edu/its/voicemail/answers/customizing.html#datetime.
SmartVoice Training
ITS offers two instructional classes for faculty and staff wanting to learn more about SmartVoice:
