Installing and Configuring VPN for Windows (XP or Vista)
Downloading and Installing
- Log into your machine using an account with administrative privileges.
- If you have not already done so, download the Cisco VPN Client for Windows from the BevoWare download site.
- Close any other applications you have open.
- Double-click the file you downloaded, then follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
- Restart your machine when the installation is complete.
Using a High-Speed Connection
For those using a high-speed connection, the Cisco VPN software is automatically preconfigured to connect to the University of Texas at Austin network. No further configuration is required and you can connect to the VPN.
Using a Dial-up Modem
If you use your modem to connect to campus, you need to configure the Cisco VPN client for dial-up access:
- Open the VPN Client program.
- From the Start menu, select Programs, then select VPN Client, then VPN Client.
- In the list of connection entries, select the UT VPN entry and click Modify.
- Select the Dialup tab and select the Connect to Internet via dial-up option.
- Select the method you use (for example, Microsoft Dial-up Networking), then select a dial-up profile from the drop-down menu.
- Click Save.
