Virtual Servers

UT - Virtual Machine Gateway (UT-VMG)

The UT-Virtual Self-Provisioning project adds a significant new feature to the UT-Virtual (UT-V) environment: VM self-provisioning and self-management for technical resources in UT Austin colleges and departments. The project is based on VMware’s vCloud Automation Center (vCAC) technology. The project team is targeting a phased rollout starting in Fall 2014.

Business Need and Background

The current VM provisioning process in UT Virtual (UT-V) is manual and requires personnel for each step. Department TSCs have limited administrative control of their virtual resources in UT-V. The current provisioning process impedes rapid provisioning, customization, and management their VMs on UT-V.
